Cannabidiol(CBD)

  • CBD, short for Cannabidiol, is a natural compound that is one of the two primary constituents found in Cannabis. CBD is a safe, non-addictive substance, but is often confused or grouped in with Tetrahydrocannabidiol(THC) which is the more stigmatized and frequently associated component of cannabis that is psychoactively altering and produces the marijuana high.\\

Phytocannabinoids
CBD is one of more than a hundred “phytocannabinoids,” which are unique to cannabis and endow the plant with its robust therapeutic profile. Phytocannabanouids work similarly to endocannabanoids, contained within our own body and are considered neurochemicals that are found throughout the nervous system and are connected to our immune response and even our reproductive system.
THC vs CBD
While both predominating cannabanoids have bountiful therapeutic effects, they communicate in very different ways with different receptors in the body and brain.


The Endocannabanoid System


Cbd works with the Endocannabanoid System(ECS) in our body which is a regulatory infrastructure present in the brains and nervous systems of mammals. The Endocannabinoid System permeates the 11 physiological systems in the body necessary for survival to make sure the systems are synergetically aligned. It promotes homeostasis to cultivate a bodily synergy. It primarily maintains and restores balance in multiple ways throughout the body, which affects varied issues regarding health and disease. If disease or injury occurs, the system shifts from one that regulates 
wellbeing , pleasure and energy to one that restores balance and normal functioning processes. 

The ECS built into us monitors the body’s constant struggle between building itself upo(anabolism) and breaking itself down. (catabolism)

The ECS is comprised of two receptors:

  • Cannabinoid-1(CB1)
  • Cannabinoid-2(CB2)

And two signalign molecules

  • Arachidonyl athanolamide (AEA)
  • 2-Arachidonyl Glycerol 2-AG
